The Wireless Campus
Trinity's wireless network is, no doubt, a very helpful tool. When I go online, I usually first check my school e-mail, which is helpful because it is a fast and easy way for my professors, classmates, friends, and the campus to get in touch with me. I also often go online because I need to use Blackboard. Blackboard and other resources online are useful because they can be updated often, lectures can be posted, and homework can be assigned and turned in. I also use the network to do research. I also use the internet for some of my free time. I check my personal email (Gmail), read online newspapers, and read news. I also chat with my friends and occasionally go on YouTube. So, the wireless network is both an academic help as well as a distraction, but it is a resource that is far too fantastic and helpful for me to consider abusing it. I know the appropriate times to do work and when to have fun and act accordingly. Nonetheless, I am aware that pirating and using networks for purposes beyond academics are a spreading problem in colleges. In the following article, a situation is explained about pirating on college networks and how campuses are handling them: http://articles.latimes.com/2002/dec/02/local/me-piracy2
